Steps for Replicating an Assignment Code

An assignment code can be replicated (copied) and modified to create a new assignment without having to set up all the values for a new code. This saves set up time. However, since the same criteria cannot be set up for more than one assignment with the same Assignment Source Code, all the qualification criteria must be set up for the replicated code.

For example, when a maximum work stretch assignment is copied, the new maximum work stretch assignment cannot have the same qualification criteria as the existing record. That way the system knows which assignment to give to those employees.

To replicate (copy) an assignment, complete the following steps:

  1. From Configuration > Assignment, open the Assignment Code screen.

  2. Using the Search criteria, search for the record to be copied and open that record.

  3. Select the Replicate button from the left pane. A copy of the original assignment code is created, with all the indicator, parameter, and range table category settings of the original.

  4. The Assignment Source Classification and Assignment Source Code fields are filled with values from the original record and are read only.

  5. Enter the Effective Date of the replicated Assignment Code.

  6. The Code field must be updated to make the code of the new assignment unique.

    Note:

If this value is not changed, a "Duplicate Key" error message is displayed when the Save button is clicked.

  7. The Description field can either be updated or left the same as the original record.

  8. Click the Save button at the bottom of the screen.

  9. If this assignment code has a Range Table Category tab, open this tab. For each field, select the appropriate range table value.

    Note:

The range table options that are available for a screen have been previously set up on Configuration > Assignment > Range Table with the Assignment Source Code of the Range Table matching the Assignment Source Code of the assignment code. In this example, the Range Tables are set up with the Assignment Source Code set to 'Cmb Shifts'.

  10. Select the Indicators tab (if indicators exist for this assignment). The indicator settings of the original record are defaulted. Update any of the setting values.

  11. Select the Parameter tab (if parameters exist for this assignment code). The parameter settings of the original code are defaulted. Update any of the setting values.

  12. Click Save.

  13. Click the Criteria button in the left pane to open a screen to enter the qualification criteria for this assignment code.

    • The field options that are displayed on this screen are selected on the Assignment Source configuration table.

    • Employees must meet each criterion set up on this screen to qualify for this assignment code.

    • If employees qualify for more than one assignment code, the one they are assigned is determined by the order the qualification criteria appear on the Assignment Determination listing in the Assignment Source screen. For example, there is an assignment code for employees in department 3270 and an assignment code for RN job class. If an employee belongs to department 3270 and belongs to the RN job class, whichever qualification criterion is higher on the Assignment Determination list would determine the employee assignment. If job class is listed higher, the employee would get the RN assignment. If department is higher on this listing, the employee would get the department 3270 assignment.

  14. Depending on the Assignment Source Code, one or more of the following additional section buttons may be available in the left pane. These can be updated for the replicated assignment.
