Lock/Unlock Employee Time Card and Records
Authorized users can Lock certain employee actions in the employee record to prevent other users from making changes that would impact the employee time card.

To lock a record, click on the box to the left of the employee name and select the button indicating the type of lock to set.

Hover the cursor over the lock icon in the LaborView to display the tool tip indicating the user who locked the record.

When an Employee or Supervisor/Employee lock is enabled, access to various screens in the employee record is disabled.

To unlock the record after the edits are completed, check the box to the left and select the appropriate Unlock button.
Note:
Locks can only be removed by the user that activated the lock or by a user with a system role of Administrator or Controller.
The following Action options are available in the left pane:
Courtesy Lock |
This lock indicates a user has taken responsibility for handling this specific employee time card record. The record is still accessible and editable by other users. |
Lock Employee |
This lock indicates a specific supervisor has exclusive editing rights to this employee time card record. The report can only be accessed in Read-Only mode for all other users. |
Lock Supervisor/Employee |
This lock prevents all supervisors and controllers from accessing the time card records and making any further changes to the records. This lock is used when closing a payroll for processing. |
Courtesy Unlock |
Releases the courtesy lock from the indicated employees' time card record. |
Unlock Employee |
Releases the lock from the indicated employees' time card record. |
Unlock Supervisor/Employee |
Releases the lock from the indicated employees and supervisors. |
